I have just ended my business trip in Egypt and before I returned the very cold, wet and extremely windy UK, I received a message from my little son. He told me he was playing in an Alliance Meeting at Portlethen Golf Club and it was cancelled after 9 holes because it was unplayable due to the weather conditions. Golf touring professionals were taking 3 shots to get on par 4s and 4 shots to get on at par 5s which they normally hit with a driver and an iron.
In these sort of bitterly cold and wet weather conditions, it is essential to keep the hands warm and dry if you wish to play your best golf. Every golf shot is a prisoner and you need to have a sharp short game to get up and down into the wind and score as best you can down wind. It is every difficult to have such a good touch and feel if your hands are freezing cold!
In terms of golf mitts, the quality and design have greatly improved compared with a number of years ago. Nowadays, these golf accessories are genuinely 'water-resistant' and are fleece lined to help you keep your hands warm when playing in cold and wet conditions.
I recommend the latest fleece lined and water-resistant golf mitts made by Stylo Golf which I feel are necessary in cold and/or wet course conditions.
