Have you worked for a long time? Are you planning for a golf adventure? Maybe you will first think of checking out golf holidays package vacations from your travel agent. Travel arrangements are often referred to as “stay and play” plans because you stay at a certain hotel and receive rights to play at a certain golf course while you are there. When making these arrangements, make sure there are not special requirements that will make playing inconvenient or impossible for you. Some of these plans require you to limit your arrival dates and departure dates or have other unacceptable limits so read the fine print.

You can take a golf adventure to all sorts of locations depending wants and desires. While there, you might take a day to fish instead of golf. Whatever your needs, you can find all types of different golfing packages to meet your needs.

When picking a destination for a golf adventure, pick the course you wish to play on first, and then find out about lodging at hotels, resorts, or stay and play package plans. Make sure the tee times that are set for you when choosing a stay and play package are going to work for you. People who are staying at a golf course’s own resort generally get first serve when choosing tee times. If it’s really important to you to get the tee time you desire, it may be worth it to you to stay at the resort instead of a less expensive hotel. Either way, you are sure to find refreshment and restoration when going on you golfing adventure.

Taking your own cheap golf clubs with you when you travel on your golfing adventure? You probably would prefer to use them rather than the clubs that can be rented at the course to which you are traveling. If you choose to take them with you, you will need to think about the arrangements a bit. For instance, do you have a really high quality golf club bag which will protect those expensive golf clubs. If not, you’d better get one. You won’t be able to carry your clubs on if you are flying, so you’ll need a bag that can take airport luggage handling and still protect your clubs. So get a good one.

Fuel for the golfers

Posted In: Golf Pros by Amy

Golf is a  sport that can test of the athlete’s physical and mental endurance. While golf equipment and physical fitness are important to the game, a balanced diet is often the most overlooked aspect that all serious golfers must consider.

For golfers, a balanced diet begins with eating at least 50% of your total caloric intake from carbohydrates such as whole grains, breads, pastas, rice, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy. Carbohydrates are the body’s preferred energy source during activity. It fuels the brain and nervous system, preserves protein while helping to burn fat. Consuming carbohydrates during activity helps maintain blood glucose levels, allowing the golfer to have improved concentration.

Protein is another important macronutrient to incorporate into the balanced diet. Have 6 to 8 ounces of protein daily, and choose lean protein sources such as chicken, fish, round or loin cuts of beef, beans or legumes. Protein is needed for growth and repair of muscles, and helps regulate body processes as enzymes and hormones.

Fat is the final macronutrient in the balanced diet. Fat, like carbohydrate, provides fuel for working muscles, but it is a more concentrated fuel source. Recommended fat intake is the same for athletes as for all healthy people – no more than 30% of your total calories coming from fat. This is approximately 4-5 servings of fat (based on 2000 calories). One serving of fat equals 1 teaspoon of oil or margarine, 6 nuts, or 2 teaspoons of peanut butter.

Fill up on fluids
Hydration is an imperative component in the successful golfers game. Consuming adequate fluids before, during and after playing golf is beneficial. Even a slight decrease in bodyweight due to dehydration can affect your performance and result in fatigue & mental dullness. Consume approximately 8 oz of fluid before tee time. While golfing consume 4-8 oz of fluid every15-20 minutes or at every hole.

Before the morning round:

1 cup oatmeal
1 banana or 1 cup orange juice
1 cup skim milk or 1 cup nonfat yogurt
2 slices whole-wheat toast
2 teaspoons margarine

After the 9th hole
12 ounces Sports Drink
2 tablespoons peanut butter and crackers
or 1 piece of fruit
or 1 granola or cereal bar

Don’t forget to re-hydrate as mentioned above!
3-4 ounces grilled chicken breast
1 cup brown rice
1 cup steamed broccoli
1 cup mixed greens salad
2 teaspoons low fat dressing
1 cup fruit salad

Like any other things you impart to your children, fun is most important, golf is as the same. Allow a child to “play” golf for enjoyment, and he’ll become a life-long convert of the game!

If you want to teach your child golf, a set of golf clubs is indispensable. But you needn’t to buy dear clubs, in stead, a set of discount golf clubs are just OK. And it’s better to use women’s clubs for they’re lighter and nice for kids. All you need is a women’s 9 iron, a 6 iron, 3-wood and a putter.

At the very begainning, just allow your children to practice a little bit at first, maybe 30 minutes or even less then that. This will keep motivation for practice high. And it’s okay to let them start by hitting the ball hard. That’s part of the fun! Don’t worry about their grip right off the bat. Just have them keep the right hand under the left and then swing away! I’d also make sure the child keeps his or her feet on the ground while following through.
Let your child start out with little chipping and putting games. This play will help him or her get the feel for the club and the ball. Kids can bounce the ball off the face of a wedge and try hitting leaves or twigs.

Little contests and games keep motivation high. Avoid pressure or competition early on. You want your child to enjoy the game and want to play it every chance they get, not end up so confused and unfocused that they can’t figure out what to do and just quit in frustration.

If you’re encouraging, your child will love for you to play alongside of them. Just don’t start demanding wins and emphasizing competition, or you’ll pop the enthusiasm really fast. During this process, never criticize. Praise their shots and swings. Encourage them to correct certain moves, but don’t dwell on what was done incorrectly.

Children will move along as they’re ready. Letting them progress at their own pace prevents future burnout. Never make a child play the game, unless he wants to. The game should be fun, and a simple joy. Laugh and have a blast yourself!

If your child’s interest increases, you might consider golf camp or some private lessons with someone experienced in teaching children. If you do seek a personal instructor for your child, watch how the person teaches first. You really want an encouraging person with a knack for teaching kids.

Besides, don’t forget to teach your child the golf etiquette. Gentleman are always popular.
