TRIGGER HAPPY

The weight of the club is firmly placed on the middle knuckle of Sergio’s right index finger. This allows Sergio to sense not only the weight of the club, but also the location of the sweet spot on the club face. This is possible because Sergio has the right index finger separated away from his middle finger.

ABS APLENTY

Sergio’s tremendous fitness has numerous benefits including increased power and longer practice sessions. Technically, his core strength enables him to maintain his spine angle under the tremendous torque created between his upper and lower body during the swing.

SWING LOW, LEFT SHOULDER

Sergio’s left shoulder points down toward the ground and behind the ball late into the downswing. This serves two purposes: First, the steeper shoulder angle keeps the left arm close to the body and enables him to create his famous “lag.” Second, the closed position of the shoulders prevents the club from coming over the top.

THE LINES HAVE IT

Pay attention to your discount golf clubs. Note how the leading edge of the clubface is perfectly square, and is lined up perpendicular to the ground halfway down. It’s also parallel to the outside of the left arm. Also, the clubshaft is running through the right forearm, putting it on plane as it approaches impact.

WEIGHT ON THE MOVE

While the arms and golf clubs are held back by the upper body, Sergio shifts his weight toward the target with his lower body. His knees remain flexed as the majority of his weight moves onto his left side. This is critical for solid iron shots as it facilitates a downward path into the ball.

This year’s Players champion is known for many things, including his flair for dramatics on the course and his unique fashion sense. But more than anything, Sergio is known for having the most Hogan-esque swing on Tour. Take note of the incredible amount of lag he creates in the transition—his hands are extremely deep while the clubhead is still well behind his body. This is Sergio’s key for amazing ballstriking, and like Hogan, it allows him to produce a ton of power with outstanding accuracy. If you have good flexibility, developing lag in your swing is something worth working on.

A golf-like game is recorded as taking place on 26 February 1297, in the Netherlands, in a city called Loenen aan de Vecht, where the Dutch played a game with a stick and leather ball. The winner was whoever hit the ball the most number of times into a target several hundreds of meters away.

Some scholars argue that this game of putting a small ball in a hole in the ground using golf clubs was also played in 17th-century Netherlands and that this predates the game in Scotland. There are also other reports of earlier accounts of a golf-like game from continental Europe.

As you might assume, however, when a great game such as golf was invented, everyone wanted to claim that it was their country’s idea. For example, the country of Scotland claims that it invented the game. But then again, so does Italy, China, England, France, Holland, Belgium, and countries far away in Asia. Games that resembled golf in other countries included ‘paganica’ in Italy. This was a game that involved using a stick and a rock to hit a target. In Scotland, the same game was referred to as ’shinty.’ In the country of Laos, it was called ‘khi’, and in China it was called ‘ch’ui wan’, which translates into ‘beating a ball’.

It all started out with a simple stick and a rock. Like today’s golf equipment and golf ball. Man took these two items and decided to create a way to entertain himself. After all, what else was there to do for fun before the 15th century that didn’t involve beheadings and fighting wars? Although the game of golf started out by man swinging a stick towards a rock in order to propel it into a certain direction, this was the way that many current sports games started. Just about any place or country you could find a stick and a rock, you could find golf, baseball, tennis, lacrosse, or hockey!

Some of these games were played before the year 300 B.C. – so to be able to pinpoint exactly where it started would be nearly impossible! Historians themselves have only one answer as to who invented golf: They just don’t know! Golf may be one of those games that was so great, and so many people loved to try it, that it really had no origin. It was born when the Earth was born, and it is universal in its popularity!

Over the centuries, golf has become more and more popular all over the world. Even though no one knows where the game was truly born, we all know one thing – just about everyone enjoys playing it!

Golf beginners maybe get frustrated by choosing the best golf course that fit for them best. Here we introduce you the information of golf course for golf beginners with their favourite golf clubs. At one time, courses were only really categorized as private or public.

Public courses

Sometimes municipal if the course was built or came under the control of the local authority normally do not have a membership, and all players pay a green fee to play. Many of these do not have a tee time booking system, but operate on a first come basis.

It should be mentioned here that there are some superb public courses, and particularly in Scotland, but also true elsewhere, some of the municipals are championship standard.

Nowadays, there is a huge range of different types of membership between the traditional types mentioned above. One frequently used expression is pay’n'play. At these, there are members who pay a subscription, normally lower than at private member clubs, but who then pay an additional fee each time they play. In the UK, the point is being reached where more people are playing golf on this basis than any other. And it can be a cost effective way of playing golf particularly if you do not envisage playing many times in the course of a year.

Private courses

Visitors may play on payment of a Green Fee besides buying discount golf clubs. Costs of the green fee vary considerably depending on time courses often have twilight rates after a certain time of the day frequently there are Winter rates between certain months of the year. The rate will also vary depending on whether the visitor is introduced by a member or not.

Many courses will not allow visitors at the weekend (unless introduced). Some courses do not allow visitors at all, unless they are introduced, but these are a small minority. If in doubt about whether you will be able to play on arrival at a course, or whether the cost of a round falls within your price structure, give the Club Secretary or Professional a call beforehand. In the vast majority of cases you will receive friendly advice, and occasionally some cost benefit!

Most private courses are very welcoming to visitors (they need the green fee income!) Some may require sight of a handicap certificate. Please ensure that your game is at an acceptable level before venturing on to a full golf course. Even more important is a knowledge of the etiquette of the game, especially in knowing when to let a following group play through if you are holding them up.
